On today's episode of Felony Friday Amshula Jayaram joins host John Odermatt to discuss criminal justice reform and exoneration of innocent prisoners. Amshula is a state policy advocate for the Innocence Project. She leads state-level campaigns to enact policies and laws that benefit wrongfully convicted individuals, improve public safety and prevent future injustices.
Amshula has prior experience working in the Washington Legislative Office of the American Civil Liberties Union. While at the ACLU she built policy campaigns to pass legislation on a variety of national security, human rights and criminal justice issues. She has also worked as a Fellow with the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights to promote better policies, education and awareness on critical issues. Additionally, Amshula has spent a number of a years coordinating the pro bono efforts of private sector law firms.
