Today's Felony Friday guest Coss Marte shared a remarkable story with host John Odermatt. Coss was surrounded by drugs from a young age, so a life of drug dealing seemed inevitable. At the age of nineteen-years-old Coss was making more than $2 million per year selling illegal drugs using an elaborate delivery system. He reinvented how drugs were sold in his neighborhood and became the "Uber of the drug trade" before Uber even existed.
At the age of twenty-three Coss was convicted and spent more than 7 years in prison. During his incarceration doctors warned him that his cholesterol and weight placed him on a path to an early death. This information, combined with another an "aha" moment during some time spent in solitary confinement, motivated Coss to lose 70 lbs in jail and changed his outlook on life. Coss crafted a fitness program combining cardiovascular, aerobic, and running exercises while serving out his sentence. Upon his release he began teaching others how to do the same. With guidance from Defy Ventures, an organization that helps the formerly incarcerated become entrepreneurs, Coss founded has founded a wildly successful fitness company, ConBody.

For the twentieth episode of Felony Friday host John Odermatt was joined by Lions of Liberty contributor Howie Snowden. Howie first appeared on episode two of Felony Friday, where a felony charge for animal abuse and legislation that made recording cops illegal were the main topics.
On today's episode John and Howie discussed some of the most controversial and heavy topics that Felony Friday has covered to date. They analyzed the tragic case of Canadian parents who were found guilty in the death of their toddler. The toddler died from bacterial meningitis and the court ruled the parent's choice to treat their child with natural remedies over traditional medicine caused the child's death. John and Howie also analyzed the case of a Virginia father who is in trouble with authorities after posting a video of him boxing his son. Lastly, they talked about the unfortunate case of a twenty seven-year-old who is going to prison for life because his fiancée overdosed and died after they took heroin together for her nineteenth birthday. While discussing each topic John asked, "Is this a crime, and should anyone do time." You don't want to miss their answers!

Felony Friday Ep. 015 - Rocky McKay Fights Recidivism with Operation Reset
Friday Apr 15, 2016
Friday Apr 15, 2016
Rocky McKay joined Felony Friday host John Odermatt to share an absolutely incredible program that he created to address recidivism in the criminal justice system. Rocky is the Founder and President of The Operation Organization, a non-profit organization, which has a program called Operation Reset that gives a “hand-up and not a hand-out” to U.S. Veterans, non violent ex-offenders re-entering society, and homeless people in need of a second chance.
Here's what we discussed on the show:
- Rocky shared how experiences during his childhood as a self described "army brat" still influence his decision making today. He explained why he started a career in roofing and how he came to acquire a nickname that he used to hate, but now embraces, "Rocky the Roofer."
- Rocky talked about the circumstances that lead to him serving 90 days in jail and how that experience completely changed his perspective on life. In jail he learned not to judge people based upon their past. He came to understand that even though people made a mistake that ultimately led to jail time, they are still individuals with hopes, dreams and families. Rocky came to understand that even though many ex-offenders had served their time, they remained shackled to their past.
- Rocky shared the goals of his Operation Reset program. Operation Reset seeks to find veterans, ex-convicts or homeless people who are serious about getting trained to fill roles where there is currently a shortage of skilled labor. Operation Reset is a program that strives to provide training, build confidence, and teach valuable skills to those who have been told “NO” due to their backgrounds, a poor decision, lack of work experience or because they’re homeless.

Today we welcomed John Ziegler back on Felony Friday for a followup interview on the Jerry Sandusky scandal. John was a guest on the 8th episode of Felony Friday. That episode received such a strong reaction and I received so many questions, that it made sense to invite John back on the show to answer the questions and dig deeper into some areas of the case that have been completely ignored by the mainstream media. For those who aren't familiar with John Ziegler's work, he is a nationally-syndicated radio host, documentary filmmaker and author. John is also the creator of the website The Framing of Joe Paterno, which is where he houses all of his research, interviews and videos dedicated to analyzing the evidence that the mainstream media created a false narrative in the Jerry Sandusky story.
What we talked about:
- John Ziegler discusses the allegation from 1998, from an 11-year old boy later to be known as "Victim 6," that Sandusky picked him up in a shower and gave him a bear hug from behind. More than a decade later "Victim 6" testified that he did not perceive the episode as sexual. The authorities declared the allegation "unfounded" at the time and no charges were filed. John Ziegler shares the reasons why he believes nothing nefarious happened during the 1998 incident and cites his hour long prison conversation with Jerry Sandusky as evidence.
- What were Sara Ganim's, David Jones' and Scott Paterno's roles in aiding and abetting the creation of the media firestorm that led to the firing of Joe Paterno and the Salem Witch Trial environment leading up to the Jerry Sandusky trial? John Ziegler shares the importance of a very angry phone call he received from Scott Paterno after interviewing Sandusky in prison.
- Mr. Ziegler discusses Sandusky's odd interview with Bob Costas. John speculates why Sandusky's lawyer allowed him to be interviewed and why it was during this interview that he thought for the first time that Jerry Sandusky could be innocent.
- Out of all the victims John Ziegler says he is most positive that Matt Sandusky is lying. He references a Matt Sandusky interview with Oprah as evidence of his deception. Check out John's video critiquing the Oprah interview as well.
