On this episode of Felony Friday Michael Krawitz joins host John Odermatt to discuss how international treaties are vital to advancing drug reform worldwide. Michael is a disabled United States Air Force Veteran, he served from 1981 to 1986 and was injured in an accident in Guam that was
deemed "in the line of duty" although not in any way combat related.
In 1997 he was part of a small team of activists that protected Virginia's longstanding medical marijuana law from being repealed. In 1998 he was part of a United Nations drug summit. Since then in 1999 Krawitz presented testimony to the National Academy of Science, Institute
of Medicine, AND he has been a leader in this international field of NGO drug policy work. He was a key player in the Beyond 2008 UN NGO drug summit and was responsible for submitting the grants and the arrangements for the bulk of the US drug policy reform
Michael was responsible for a bill being submitted to Virginia's Legislature in 2009, and another in 2012, reforming Virginia's long standing medical marijuana law. In 2010 Mr Krawitz's decade long fight inside the VA for adequate access to pain management paid off with his negotiating the first ever, medical cannabis policy within the VA.

My guest today on Felony Friday is Curtis Drayton. Curtis was sentenced in 1995 to life with five years for four counts of distribution of cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and aiding and abetting. His prison sentence was commuted by President Obama in December of last year and he was released from prison in Feb 16 of 2017. Curtis was only convicted and sentenced to life as a result of what can be described as blatant corruption and incompetence at the hands of the federal prosecutors, federal agents, the judge and a probationary officer.
I was introduced to Curtis by a former guest on this show, Malik King. Since our introduction Curtis and I have had several phone and Skype calls reviewing his case. Curtis sent me two large folders of legal documents from his case and patiently pointed out to me each instance where the government got it wrong. This is an incredible case. All the credit goes to Curtis for outlining and researching every aspect of the case against him with the hope of shinning a light on the grave injustice he's suffered. The goal of this podcast is to share his story, so please share this podcast far and wide.

Monday Jul 10, 2017
Monday Jul 10, 2017
In today's episode of Lions of Liberty, host Marc Clair welcomes in Kmele Foster of The Fifth Column podcast and Free Think Media! Kmele was formerly the co-host of "The Independents" on Fox Business. Kmele breaks down how he evolved into a libertarian after a classmate told him he was "just too smart" to be a Democrat, and how the philosophy within the work of Milton Friedman pushed him further down the path. Marc and Kmele then discuss their approaches to talking about the ideas of liberty with "real people", and their mutual skepticism when it comes to the conversation surrounding race. It's a fun show!
Plus! Stay tuned for a big update on our latest charity project in conjunction with DonorSee.

Today on Felony Friday David Borden joins host John Odermatt to discuss his long fight to put an end to the global war on drugs. David is founder and executive director of StoptheDrugWar.org. David played the leading role in pioneering the use of the Internet for education and organizing in drug policy reform after founding DRCNet in 1993.
Borden earned a degree with honors in Astrophysical Sciences from Princeton University in 1988, and completed a Master of Music in Jazz Composition from New England Conservatory in 1990.
StoptheDrugWar.org works to end to drug prohibition worldwide, and an end to the "drug war" in its current form. The organization believes that much of the harm commonly attributed to "drugs" is really the result of placing drugs in a criminal environment AND that the global drug war has fueled violence, civil instability, and a public health crises; and that the current policies toward drugs are unjust.
