In this episode of the Lions of Liberty podcast, John Odermatt sits down with Howard Snowdon and Johnny Rocket from the Johnny Rocket Launch Pad. After Johnny kicks of the show with his best Marc Clair impersonation the trio begins to dissect the first televised Libertarian Presidential debate.
Three things we talked about:
- The debate format. It was beyond awesome to see a nationally televised debate, but there were some areas that were lacking.
- Gary Johnson's controversial claim that he favors using the force of government to prevent businesses from discriminating based upon religion.
- Who won and who lost the night? The gang ranks each candidates performance.

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, host Marc Clair is joined by Trinity College professor and author Ed Stringham to discuss his work "Private Governance: Creating Order in Economic and Social Life". But first, Ed explains how he first became interested in liberty and economic, and how a summer reading list from a past Lions of Liberty Podcast guest lead him on his intellectual journey. Marc and Ed go on to discuss the concept of private governance, the difference between the "government" and "club" models of social organization, and just how Ed sees so-called "private governance" as being able to better cater to the needs of a society more so than the currently accepted legal centralist models. Marc presses Ed on the concerns many might have about a system of purely "private" governance, including how private governance could address issues of justice and individual rights violations.
