Thursday Sep 10, 2015
Thursday Sep 10, 2015
In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, host Marc Clair is joined by libertarian blogger and independent political analyst - not to mention Lions of Liberty contributor - Seamusin Reilly! After Seamusin explains the origin of his name and suffers through Marc's atrocious attempt at an Irish accent, he explains how he first came into the ideas of liberty through reading the writings of the American founders and discovering the concept of natural law. Seamusin describes how the 2012 Presidential campaign of Ron Paul helped him more specifically come to understand modern libertarianism. Marc and Seamusin discuss the concepts of natural law and natural rights, and touch on some historical examples of societies which achieved many common goals in terms of social aid and welfare without a central coercive state. They then discuss Seamusin's recent article published at Lions of Liberty, "The Ugly Truth About ISIS: A New Era of Global Terrorism."
In the Last Roar, Marc addresses criticism that libertarians such as himself are too focused on "rights and theories", and breaks down the crucial difference between "solutions" and "fixes."
