Today on Felony Friday Bertram Russel, Jr. joins host John Odermatt to share how he was railroaded by the IRS. This episode ties into a two-part episode from a few weeks ago with Pete Hendrickson. In those episodes (Part 1 and Part 2) Hendrickson went delved into the misunderstood history of the income tax and explained how he believes it is possible to crack the income tax code.
Bertram, who goes by Skip, is a doctor and investor. He's also a listener of this show and the one who tipped me off to Pete Hendrickson's work on the income tax. Many people can't imagine a scenario where they're literally fighting the IRS for their freedom. Unfortunately, this is what happened with Skip and his story is both remarkable and educational.
Content:
Skip first learned of Pete Hendrickson's work while he was doing research for his own IRS case. The federal government had accused him of conspiring to file false returns and of evading income taxes. He was put on trial with a dozen other people whom he did not know and the judge refused to separate his case from the others. Many of those charged in the case opted to accept a plea deal. However, Skid refused to compromise his integrity and he chose to fight the charges.
Unfortunately, Bertram lost, as most do when they fight the IRS. However, he can hold his head high because he did not compromise his integrity. It's a rigged system and Skip ended up serving about 5 years in prison. Scroll down below the posted interview to view documents the IRS sent him while he was in prison. These letters clearly prove Bertram did not have any tax liability during the years the IRS claims he evaded and conspired not to pay income taxes.

Introduction:
Today on Felony Friday I am joined by Pete Hendrickson for part two of our interview on the income tax. For those who missed part one of my interview with Pete, I strongly suggest going back and listening to it first. Pete advocates for a controversial method that teaches people how to reclaim income tax withholding from federal and state governments. He is the author of the book Cracking the Code and on his website Lost Horizons he publishes success stories submitted by citizens who have utilized his teachings to reclaim income tax withholding.
What we talked about:
- We get into the details of how Pete interprets the income tax law. We talk discuss what is taxable and not taxable income.
- Pete explains how the true spirit of the income tax law is meant to constrain the federal government, but the current interpretation contributes to the tremendous growth the government has experienced over the last 60 or 70 years.
- We talk about Pete becoming a target of the federal government. Pete explains how his wife Doreen has essentially become a political prisoner of the US government.

- Most people believe that the 16th Amendment is responsible for creating the income tax. Pete explains why this is not true and explains the true intent of the law.
- According to Pete, income tax law is written with the intent of keeping government small. He explains why so many do not know this truth and he explains how the income tax has become misunderstood.
