LoLP 108: Peter Klein - How Government Influences Science & Technology
Monday May 25, 2015
Monday May 25, 2015
In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, host Marc Clair is joined by Peter Klein, research fellow at the Mises Institute and Professor in the Division of Applied Sciences at the University of Missouri. Peter explains how he first became interested in the study of free markets, particularly as it pertains to technology and the sciences. Marc and Peter discuss how coercive governments have influenced the development of technology, particularly as it pertains to the internet. They discuss the issue of net neutrality, and whether or not calls for it can be justified as a response to crony capitalist control over content delivery services. Peter and Marc examine the question of whether humans would have gone to the Moon or explore deep space if it weren't for U.S. government intervention, and as usual Marc has some thoughts of his own in the wrap-up rant!
