In today's episode of Lions of Liberty, host Marc Clair welcomes in independent (with a small 'I") candidate for U.S. Senate in Ohio, Scott Rupert! Scott is in the midst of his second campaign for U.S. Senate in Ohio, after achieving 5% of the vote in 2012 without the support of any political party apparatus whatsoever, and on a budget of around $6,000. This fits right in line with the type of life Scott has led since a young age, having supported himself since before the age of 17.
In our conversation, we discuss:
- Why Scott first took interest in politics, and decided to immediately get involved by running for U.S. Senate
- The baggage that can come with political labels and political parties
- Why Scott chose to run outside the party system, and how his independent status helps him reach out to his constituents
- Why Scott was able to achieve 5% of the vote in 2012 - a very high number for an unknown, unaffiliated candidate - without the support of any political party
- and so much more!
On this Independence day, enjoy this conversation looking at the idea of independence from political parties!
